Why is Easel priced this way?

Easel is currently in public alpha. The $9/month price reflects early-stage software—we're actively developing features and gathering feedback from real users. This introductory rate lets you try Easel while helping shape its future. Pricing may change as Easel matures.

Are there really no transaction fees?

Correct. Easel doesn't take a percentage of your sales. You connect your own Stripe account, so payments go directly to you. Stripe takes their standard processing fees (2.9% + 30¢ per transaction), but that's between you and Stripe - Easel never touches your revenue. This is different from platforms like Shopify that add their own transaction fees on top of payment processing.

How does the free trial work?

30 days, full Standard plan access, no credit card required. You can add products, configure your store, and even start fielding orders. Trial extensions are available if you need more time to evaluate.

What are the support response times?

Email support with response typically within 1-2 business days. This is a target, not a guarantee - I'm one person and take vacations. But I usually respond faster than promised.

How does sponsored feature development work?

$200/hour, 5-hour minimum, payment upfront. Think of it as sponsoring open source feature development rather than custom work - everything I build becomes part of the AGPL-licensed codebase for everyone to use. Most features take 8-20 hours depending on complexity. This helps accelerate Easel's development while solving your specific needs. I will only accept features that improve Easel for everyone.

Can I export my data if I leave?

Always. Complete data export includes products, customers, orders, analytics - everything in standard formats (CSV, JSON). No export fees, no artificial delays. The export feature is built into your admin panel. Your data belongs to you, period.

What happens if I need enterprise features?

Easel is built for small-to-medium businesses, not enterprises. If you need SSO, complex approval workflows, or white-glove onboarding, consider platforms like BigCommerce Enterprise or Magento (Adobe Commerce) that focus on enterprise needs. We'd rather be excellent at one thing than mediocre at everything.
