Terms of Service

Easel is run by ParaVoce LLC ("we" and "us" below). These terms cover your use of Easel as a merchant.

Agreeing to these terms

By using Easel, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Acceptable Use Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Easel.

What Easel provides

Easel is a hosted platform for running online stores. It includes:

  • Tools to build and manage one or more storefronts
  • Product catalog and inventory management
  • Orders, customers, shipping, tax, and refunds
  • Payments through your own Stripe account
  • Technical support and maintenance

Your account

To use Easel, you must:

  • Be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian's consent
  • Give accurate information when you sign up
  • Keep your login details secure
  • Take responsibility for everything done under your account
  • Use Easel only for lawful business

Subscription and billing

Price

Easel costs €29 a month after a 30-day free trial. If the price changes, existing customers get 30 days' notice.

Payment

  • You're billed monthly, in advance
  • Payment is due when your subscription starts
  • We accept major credit cards through Stripe
  • If a payment fails, we may suspend your store

Refunds

You can get a full refund within 30 days of your first payment. After that, we don't refund partial months.

Free trial

The 30-day trial gives you access to the full platform without a credit card. Ask if you need more time.

Your data

You own your data:

  • Your store content, products, and customer data belong to you
  • You can get your data at any time through exports or the API
  • We won't hold your data back if a payment is overdue

When we delete it

  • Trials: 90 days after the trial ends, unless you subscribe
  • Canceled subscriptions: 90 days after the subscription ends
  • Accounts terminated for breaking our policies: immediately

Keep your own records. Once data is deleted, we can't restore it.

Availability

We work to keep Easel running, but we don't guarantee 100% uptime. We may:

  • Take Easel down for scheduled maintenance, with notice
  • Have unplanned outages beyond our control
  • Suspend service temporarily for security or legal reasons

At this price, we don't offer a service level agreement.

Your responsibilities

You're responsible for:

  • Following the laws that apply to your business
  • Following our Acceptable Use Policy
  • Keeping your product information and prices accurate
  • Handling customer service for your store
  • Your tax obligations, including checking that the rates Easel applies are right for you
  • Keeping your contact information current

What you can't do

  • Break any law or regulation
  • Infringe anyone's intellectual property
  • Hack, disrupt, or abuse our systems
  • Sell anything the Acceptable Use Policy prohibits
  • Spam, phish, or commit fraud
  • Resell or redistribute Easel's hosted service without our permission

Ending your account

If you cancel

You can cancel at any time. Your store keeps running until the end of the billing period you've paid for.

If we terminate

We may terminate your account immediately for:

  • Breaking these terms or our policies
  • Not paying after reasonable notice
  • Illegal activity or abuse of our systems
  • Conduct that harms other users or our reputation

Intellectual property

You own the content you create. We own:

  • The Easel platform and software
  • Our trademarks, logos, and brand materials
  • Our documentation and support materials

Easel's source code ↗ is public under the AGPL license, which sets out what you can do with it.

Other services

Easel works with these services, each with its own terms and privacy policy:

  • Stripe: payment processing
  • Fastmail: sending transactional email
  • ShipStation: optional shipping labels and tracking, through your own account

Disclaimers

Easel is provided "as is," without warranties. In particular:

  • We don't promise Easel will meet all your needs
  • We don't control third-party services or their availability
  • Internet connections and device compatibility vary
  • You use Easel at your own risk

Limitation of liability

Our liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before a claim. We're not liable for:

  • Lost profits, revenue, or business opportunities
  • Data loss, though we back up hosted stores
  • Failures of third-party services or integrations
  • Indirect, consequential, or punitive damages

Governing law

California law governs these terms. Disputes will be resolved in California courts or through binding arbitration.

Language

We offer these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Acceptable Use Policy in other languages as a best-effort courtesy. If a translation conflicts with the English version, the English version governs.

Changes to these terms

We'll give you 30 days' notice of changes by email or in your dashboard, and more notice for major changes to pricing or core features. If you keep using Easel after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
