It's still early
Easel is in public alpha. Features are missing, bugs turn up, and things change without warning.
One developer
Email support takes one to two business days, not minutes. There's no chat, no phone line, and no 24/7 coverage, and if I'm out, everything slows down. Same-day Signal support comes with Complete, and weekend Signal support with Partner.
Stripe only
No PayPal, Square, regional processors, crypto, or buy-now-pay-later.
Shipping rates you set, not live quotes
You set domestic and international rates, with an optional weight surcharge and free-shipping threshold. Easel doesn't quote carriers live at checkout. Labels and tracking need your own ShipStation account, and labels that need customs forms have to be bought in ShipStation itself.
Basic tax, and you file it
Easel works out sales tax or VAT from a built-in rate table for the places you register, added at checkout or included in your prices. US rates are statewide; enter your own rate to cover local taxes. No ZIP-level rates, product tax classes, or exemptions, and Easel doesn't file or pay tax for you.
No subscriptions for your customers
One-time purchases only, including digital downloads. No recurring billing.
No theme editor or page builder

No marketing automation
Apart from opt-in wishlist sale alerts, no email campaigns, behavioral tracking, A/B testing, or analytics beyond basic sales reports.
No enterprise features or app store
No SSO, LDAP, approval workflows, or third-party apps. If you need enterprise software, look elsewhere.
One currency, basic international support
A single currency per site. Shoppers can see estimated prices in other currencies, but they're charged in yours. No customs paperwork or regional payment methods.
No social or review integrations
Product reviews are built in, but Easel doesn't connect to outside review services, social networks, or marketplaces.
Simple infrastructure
Servers in the EU, no CDN. Best-effort uptime, no enterprise SLA, and a traffic spike can slow things down.
