Pros/Cons
You've read what Easel does. Now here's where it won't fit.
It's still early
Easel is in public alpha. Features are missing, bugs turn up, and things change without warning.
One developer
Support takes one to two business days, not minutes. No chat, no phone line, no 24/7 coverage, and if I'm out, everything slows down.
Stripe only
No PayPal, Square, regional processors, crypto, or buy-now-pay-later.
Flat shipping only
Shipping is a flat rate per order. No live carrier rates, tracking, or label printing.
No tax automation
Build tax into your prices and keep your own records.
No subscriptions for your customers
One-time purchases only, including digital downloads. No recurring billing.
No theme editor or page builder
No drag-and-drop builder, theme marketplace, or HTML editing in the dashboard. Deep customization means forking the AGPL source.
No marketing automation
No email campaigns, behavioral tracking, A/B testing, or analytics beyond basic sales reports.
No enterprise features or app store
No SSO, LDAP, approval workflows, or third-party apps. If you need enterprise software, look elsewhere.
One currency, basic international support
A single currency per site. No exchange rates, VAT compliance, customs paperwork, or regional payment methods.
No reviews or social features
No product ratings, feedback tools, or integrations with review services.
Simple infrastructure
Servers in Germany, no CDN. Best-effort uptime, no enterprise SLA, and a traffic spike can slow things down.
