Data Requests
Access, export, and delete the personal data Easel holds. Most requests are handled in your dashboard, without emailing anyone.
Who controls what
When you sell on Easel, you are the data controller for your customers' data and Easel is the processor. Shoppers should send access and deletion requests to the store they bought from. Easel handles requests about your own merchant account.
If you're a shopper
Contact the store you bought from. They control your data and can export or delete it for you. If you can't reach them, email privacy@easel.engineering and we'll help.
Export your store data
Download a copy of everything in your store at any time:
- In the dashboard, open Exports and choose New Export.
- Pick CSV for spreadsheets or JSON for structured data.
- Easel builds a ZIP in the background and emails you a download link when it's ready. The link is valid for 72 hours.
The export includes products, product options and values, variants, customers, orders and order items, collections, tags, sites, and customer addresses.
Answer a customer's request
When a shopper asks for their data, open them under Customers:
- Export Data downloads a JSON file with their profile, addresses, and orders.
- Delete Customer erases their name, email, phone number, and saved addresses.
Deletion anonymizes the customer record rather than removing it entirely, so the store keeps the order records it needs for tax and accounting. The confirmation page explains this before anything is deleted.
Delete your Easel account
Merchant accounts are erased by the platform operator. Email privacy@easel.engineering from the address on the account and we'll remove the account and the personal data attached to it.
What we keep, and why
- Deleted stores: after you delete a store, its data is retained for 90 days and then permanently removed.
- Order records: kept for tax and accounting after a customer erasure, with personal details removed from the customer profile.
- Merchant accounts: we remove the account and the personal data attached to it when you ask.
